While ARTAS has been a major breakthrough in hair restoration it does have some limitations which should be noted. Persons who have extremely curly or low angled hair may pose problems to the ARTAS system.
Additionally, if the donor sites to harvest the donor hair are in low portions of the head or sides near the ears it may also be difficult to utilize ARTAS. In these cases, the surgeon will likely use handheld motorized techniques. All of this should be covered in the initial consultation.
For example, if you have extremely curly hair the surgeon may decline to utilize the ARTAS system and instead choose to go with traditional FUE harvesting and transplantation methods.
